Their combined efforts saved the lives of Gustave Loftberg, and Frank James Harris,
two scow-workers who were trapped in a runaway barge that was racing helplessly on
the Upper Niagara River to meet it's destiny at the bottom of the treacherous waterfall.

This story screams courage, selflessness, and teamwork.....

It also screams Hollywood Movie...??...
Eh?...
But, don't spread that around....
We, at NIAGARAFALLSVLOGGER.COM,
Just might want to take THAT idea.....
And run with it!
LOL...

Try imagining what was going through Loftbergs' and Harris' heads, as they
psychologically hung in there....
Overnight, in that, what had to be, a creaking iron barge...
In the pit of vicious rapids and killer currents....
Knowing that they were balancing on the edge of life and death.

They must have been terrified....afraid to move, or even breathe !

NIAGARA RIVER BARGE STORY

They were real life heroes on that fateful day in August 1918,
that brought them all together.

A miracle took place that day.
It involved....
The Niagara Falls
Ontario Fire
Department,
The Niagara Falls
New York Fire
Department,
The Life Saving
Station (a United
States Coast Guard
Unit from New York
State)..
And.....
Red Hill.....
(a weathered, tough,
riverman).
Try picturing yourself
grasping that lifeline,
hand over hand, for
hours in the notorious
Niagara, with the
plundering mighty
Falls thundering just
a couple of thousand
feet away, in the
unforgiving night!

'Good thing, the
fearless, Red Hill was
around....!!!

At that time....honestly....

Who else would you call on, but the daredevil of the day?....

Who else would take on such a task?

I'll tell you, my heart pounds when I even get close to the
Brink of the Falls!

As you navigate around this site....And check out the Vlogs.....
I hope you'll feel the same rush...
And just maybe, if I've done my job, I'll pull you in!
LOL...
Get it?
"Pull You In?"

PS. I misquoted in the video narrative when I first mentioned the Life Saving Station
or the United States Coast Guard.
I said they were from Youngstown Ohio, when in fact they were from Youngstown
New York!
My apologies.....

But I got it right the second time, eh?

That's the beauty of live unscripted Vlogging......
You never know what's going to happen!

Our band played a gig at the Hollywood Bowl in Youngstown Ohio, many moons
ago.
It was fantastic!.....
So, that city is always close to my heart and on the tip of my tongue.

I imagine, there'll be many more 'slips of the tongue' on our journey of discovery
together.
