| Picture yourself sitting on the outside of a window ledge, at about 300 feet in the air, looking down.... That's exactly how I felt at the top of The SKY SCREAMER at MARINELAND THE OTHER DAY! |
| We were on the way to BEAR COUNTRY, on another one of our humorous video journeys..... We thought! Somehow we got sidetracked and ended up scaling a 150-foot mountain.... Well, not exactly scaling..... We trudged our way up the steep winding road....... Yeah, We decided to take a hit for the team, and ride the monster! |
| The next thing I knew, I was told to leave my hat, sunglasses, and camera in a wooden box in front of me, as I was being buckled into my seat, (that I couldn't get buckled up myself). The operator then checked the restraining mechanism.... and off he went.... I double checked my harness.... And it was loose.....!!! And it rattled....!!!! That's when the horror began! I called out for the dude, HEY BUDDY !! But he was gone! I'm always up for exciting adventures..... But now, I was having second thoughts. On the way in, I had seen this ride, and how fast it blasted up, and I had heard the screaming! I don't like heights! I WAS CONVINCED THAT MY SEAT BELT WAS GONNA' COME UNDONE!!! I didn't have much time to worry, though .... |
| Suddenly, I was shot 300 feet straight up in the air... 60 miles an hour.... Funny, how you don't think too much about anything, at a G-Force of 5! HA HA! |
| Counting the height of the tower and the height of the mountain, I was now, 450 feet in the air. At that point, I became aware of a subtle noise, I realized...... That was the sound of me shaking, and causing my loose seat belt contraption to rattle! |
| I then started to prepare myself for the worst part of the ride for someone like me ..... THE FREE-FALL DROP 300 feet straight down....!!! But it wasn't happening...... No........ They left us suspended there for what seemed like, forever. I knew it was coming..... But, when ? Would I lose consciousness? Would my stomach be in my throat? Would my heart pound out of my chest? Would I hurl? Or would I fly out of my seat at 60 miles an hour to the ground? I was paralyzed with anticipation..... Just another day in The City of Thrills. Then......... I heard the sound of the air compressors..... I tried to psyche myself for the inevitable...... No human was meant to travel at this speed.... From point A to point B, straight down towards earth.... With your legs dangling outside of a man-made machine! I forced myself to keep my eyes open..... But it didn't make any difference..... You don't see anything, anyway........ When you're plummeting down towards the ant-sized people back on earth! I was never as glad, as I was that day, to touch ground! That was one entertaining trek! I give it a 10 out of 10 rating as far as thrills go...... But, I doubt you'll see me first in line again anytime soon. The SKY SCREAMER..... Is definitely one of the most exhilarating attractions at the popular destination of MARINELAND! I wanted to capture the actual ride itself on film.... However, they don't allow any cameras on the ride.... Which makes total sense!!.... You need both hands to grip your harness! And believe me..... Any loose, flying items.... Could do big-time damage at that velocity!!! (The protective foam heat tiles that flew off The Space Shuttle comes to mind....) All in all.... It was quite an adventure.... That's the fun of doing vlogs in the City of Thrills..... You never know what's going to happen. |
| I was the sweating........ And trembling......... And hanging on to my harness for dear life.... When it finally stopped at the very top, I tried to enjoy the spectacular view..... The true beauty and wonder of NIAGARA FALLS....... But, the vision of me FALLING OUT OF MY CHAIR kept gnawing at me! |
